I actually have one of the blocky corsair case you showed in the very beginning. Air 540 I think? dual chamber, integrated hot swap bays for hard drives in the main chamber, very cool case. old, and way ahead of its time. it's a little creaky, too much plastic, and it won't fit modern longer gpus, so it's sitting in my closet right now with an old fx-8350/hd 7970 build, but it's too cool to get rid of.

2 days for off the shelf parts? When I worked at micro center it was 30 minutes with QC for a basic system. That was assembly line work though. In store it shouldn't take more than a few hours. That includes installing a bunch of spyware and tweaking anything in the BIOS. Do they have a bunch of custom loop water cooled systems ahead of your basic ass PC? lmao.

The fact that it is a 580 2048sp shouldn't be the main issue here. I had my 580 2048sp a few years back and had no big issues with it. What I think is happening is that the aliexpress RX580 was a retired mining card, which silicon had degraded enough for it to no longer be stable at stock clock speeds.

Geek Squad was a legit tech repair company when it was originally created. The difference was when a giant retailer Best Buy tried to incorporate it into all its stores. The chance they would be able to maintain high level techs across all stores and all shifts was near impossible. Look up the original Geek Squad before it was bought out. Founder Robert Stephens appeared to have a strong company with knowledgeable techs that could do actual virus removals, registry repair and many other higher level tech solutions. Simply no way Best Buy could maintain that level of knowledge across their stores with the wages they pay and the volumes they needed to employ. Sadly the brand would have a uphill battle once it went into the BB stores. I wonder how the founder thinks of his creation now.

My laptop has around the same specs for just 1200 dollars. 13900hx and 4060. So it's a little scam prices.

The first concerning thing for me at the 2:15 mark....the mention of PhysX. That's always been an nVidia thing--I don't even remember what the last game to have that "PhysX" branding, was. But this 16GB version might be useful in the same way the 3060 12GB was/is. Not the best for gaming, but a lot of video/animation programs take up a lot of VRAM.

The half keyboard is actually pretty nice. A lot of people use them for things like shooting games. It gives people that don't have a lot of space more space for the mouse.

I wonder if they carried an off the shelf version, basically, for less, with no subsciption. Like the esthetic may be different but perhaps the major components would be the same as a prebuilt in store.

Fortunately I have a friend who knows all about this stuff who gets me parts. The only thing I do is just put it together.

Ive built my own pc's since about 1997. Now post covid when someone asks me about building a gaming pc. I tell them just buy a 500$ console and buy a year of game pass/PS plus and call it a day. You cant build a good gaming pc for even double the price of a 500$ console.

to anyone wondering where they should buy a pre-built PC. just build your own PC, it's really not that hard. if you have no idea what you're doing just look up a build that fits your budget and watch some tutorials (though really it's not that hard, you can just google as you go along as well)

If your pc is that nasty its tells alot about the house cleaning. My pc Never would never get that dirty...

I am curious how much it would cost in parts if you were to build it yourself? I have gone to local computer stores, not even Best Buys, to browse and the cost of their old stuff is more than I might buy new components for online.

My PC is 10 years old. I've upgraded the GC from a 980 to a 3060, and added another SSD, but otherwise that's it. I can still play at least 90 percent of the games I have (over 1000) at max graphics. Yes, I would like to upgrade to an m.2 but it's not worth it.

as a Mac user myself I can say that gaming on a Mac is mainly based off how low your expectations are, if you quality performance over quality and don't mind 20-30ish fps then Mac gaming is extremely possible, I daily a 2012 MacBook Pro 16gb ram dual channel i7 ssd, and I get good performance from games such as Roblox, Minecraft, some lower quality steam games and a lot of native MacBook games and it only costs upward to 300 or less USD to buy a good quality MacBook off of eBay so if you want to game cheap and have low quality expectations and don't care about under 60 frames gameplay then buy a old Mac
